Creative Roots, Mindful Art Inspired by Nature is a workshop series designed for Kindergarten educators to explore the connection between creativity and nature. Through hands-on activities using natural materials, educators will learn how to guide children in creating mindful art that fosters wellbeing, emotional and social development, and active learning. Each workshop blends creative expression with an appreciation for the natural world, offering tools to engage children in thoughtful, nature-inspired art that promotes physicality and holistic growth in early learning environments. Choose 1-4 Workshops depending on your Kindergarten's needs and interests.

Mindful awareness practices have been shown to improve executive functioning in young children (Flook et al, 2010).
Spending time on an activity that you enjoy can improve your mental health and wellbeing (Head to Health, Australian Government).
Mindfulness programs for school aged children can be feasibly delivered by primary school teachers as part of the regular curriculum (Vickery. C.E & Dorjee. D 2015).
Mindfulness and art group therapy programs have been demonstrated to show significant increases in attention as well as significant increases in social interactions and relationships in children (Bokoch & Hass Cohen, 2020).
The presence of effective coping and emotion regulation skills in early life protects psychological well-being and promotes resilience across the life span (Greenberg et al., 2003; Greenberg and Harris, 2012).
Mindfulness-based interventions may be effective for improving the psychological wellbeing and improve anxiety in children and adolescents with existing physical health conditions (Hughes et al, 2023).
Participating or viewing artistic activities can enhance mental health and provide personal meaning (Stucky and Nobel, 2010).
Vulnerable young people may benefit from art based mindfulness to improve emotional regulation, social and coping skills, and that can improve aspects of their self-awareness, self-esteem, and resilience (Coholic & Eys, 2015; Coholic, 2011).
